Will Young All Time Love
This is a great return to form after the disappointment of Switch It On. Although it will be easy to draw comparisons to Leave Right Now, this has a tender and quite stark tone to it but showcases Will's voice superbly. Just in time for Valentine's Day, this has potential to be a punter favourite for a while. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Re the Brits[ taken from a bigger article]:

Meanwhile, Sony BMG music division president Ged Doherty calls the groups 14 nominations "solid", adding, "It's great to see the likes of Will Young and Charlotte Church up there, but I'm delighted for all of them. What really helps lift sales is a big Brits performance, so it's great that Kelly Clarkson will be performing".

Sorry but well pissed off with that statement

See there is a discussion on Will promoting in Europe in Chat. If Will is still reluctant to promote abroad maybe this is why BMG are giving more support to to Kelly performing at the Brits. :-?

Brilliant!! thanks for posting!!!!! :cheer:

Must confess, on the subject of the Brits. Although I'm thrilled that he has been nominated, the fact that he isn't performing is a big disappointment......Kelly is the USA Pop Idol, he's the British one....these are the Brit Awards so how is this fair?

I don't know whether it's just me but as soon as I read that I saw it as a dig at Kelly Clarkson - saying that she needs to perform to boost her sales and Will doesn't need that.

Like I said, it's probably just me

:-x A disappointment? In who's eyes - I wish people wouldn't try and make their opinions sound like fact.
Well here's mine - SIO is a fantastic vibrant song - and has given loads of critics a kick up the arse. It's one of the best things he's ever done, and I can't wait to see it live.

Will is so diplomatic about not performing at the Brits, and I feel for him so much :teary: Although he is so polite about it all (having just listened to him talk about the Brits, on his radio interview) it must hurt him, being constantly bypassed each year! :hugkiss:

Kelly has done well there is no denying that, but Will has also done fantastically well with over 1.6 million sales of Fridays Child, all the sold out Theatre, Arena, Summer Festivals over the last 2 years, and already over 500k sold, with just one release from his new album`Keep On.` :cheer:

Will is becoming internationally known through his film role, and is singing to hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Will has more than earned his place to perform at the Brits.

I found this interesting on to-days `Have Your Say`....
BBC ceefax 518 page 7/7

"Shane Ward has a brit nomination for the same reason as Kelly Clarkson and Westlife - influence of Simon Cowell."
---------

(food for thought) nothing goes un-noticed!
Money and power within the industry, can do wonderous things!

Every year about this time I get more and more pissed off re: the Brits. This year is the straw that broke the camel's back, Pondlife (I thought they were Irish  ) and Shayne Ward nominated for a Brits  I thought they scraped the barrel last year but they certainly got it beat this year

Thankyou for posting this, I think SIO is brilliant. If anyone deserves to perform at the Brits, William does.

I'm completely with you there, really made me cross when I read that! :-x It's all down to personal taste and SIO is a fantastic song in my opinion. Will is obviously also very proud of it and it was noticeable that he wanted to speak about SIO again this evening.

Interesting comment about Kelly Clarkson's nomination being down to Simon Cowell's influence! If that's true, could that mean he has say who performs too? We already know that Simon Cowell doesn't get Will's voice because Louis Walsh said so, and then of course there may be outstanding personal issues too. Poor Will, if Simon Cowell is still having influence on his career! :-(

I'm sorry but have to disagree with a couple of those statements.

I'd forgotten just how good SIO was until I started listening to it again recently.....and the video was the most imaginative from any artist for a while. What exactly was the disappointment?....that he didn't think it sold well....or that it wasn't what he expected?

.....and the idea that we British are more excited about a Kelly Clarkson performance than a 3x nominated Brit Award winning, Best Selling Artist is just laughable.

There's something 'fishy' going on here.......it can't be a snub to 'reality talent show' (I promised myself I wasn't going to mention that word again  ) entrants because both Lemar and Joss Stone have performed.

I hate this f***ing show, or rather I hate the way I feel about it!

i will bet 10 thousand that Shayne will sing at the Brits before Will ever will becuase Louis and Simon will get him a slot

Hmm, I reckon there could be something too! Though I suppose we don't know for sure that Will won't win. Is the winner always asked to perform? Is that a fact?

Has Simon Cowell got influence over who performs? Is there a BMG slot then? Sorry to have so many questions.

Love Carrie xxxx

PS Is Joss Stone from a reality show or do you mean Kelly Clarkson, Sue?

SC works for bmg, and shes with- i think RCA [which is a part of sony/bmg]

she dropped SF- her management company

CarrieB

If SC has influence I wonder if it could be something to do with the argument with SF, plus the fact that he doesn't like Will's voice anyway!

yes and Cowell has a lot of clout in BMG whether we like it or not he can do what he wants just watch Shayne get a slot next year mark my words

i also reckon Fuller has no clout in the music busness now as he has given up 19 maybe he isnt interested anymore :-?

CarrieB
17-01-2006, 10:17 PM
But has he got a lot of clout in the Brits. Sorry I'm trying to understand. Do the record companies get to choose the artists for the performance slots or is that down to the Brits panel?

All i can say is if Kelly clarkson sings as badley as she did on record of the year her sales should take a nose dive

I heard it SIO again on Core last nite and was completely entranced by it. I liked it when it was out but absence has made the heart grow fonder. Its a damn good track and the video was so funny and entertaining but got his message accross so well

I haven’t listened to the album for about 3 weeks now so it was a fantastically uplifting change to hear SIO.

The Brits is a fix imo, Will should be there but I suspect politics are at play somewhere where he is concerned…
